BIO-C Xanthochromia in CSF
Bio-C software in conjunction with our BIO-UV double beam spectrophotometer offers the clinical chemistry laboratory precise and accurate measurements.
The dedicated software is easy to use and comes with pre-set methods for quick reliable results.
The methods include Bilirubin in CSF (xanthochromia), Porphyrin in Urine, Porphobilinogen (PBG), Faecal Porphyrin, and 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA).

Bilirubin in CSF
It is crucially important to detect subarachnoid haemorrhage ( SAH ) in all patients in whom it has occurred to select patients for angiography ...
Porphobilinogen
Urine Porphobilinogen (PBG) is useful for the evaluation of neurologic and/or psychiatric symptoms to exclude acute porphyrias ...
Faecal Porphyrin
Faecal porphyrin analysis is most useful in the differentiation of the neurological porphyrias and in the acute photosensitising porphyria ...
Total Urine Porphyrin
The total amount of porphyrins in a urine sample is easily measured. This is a useful test for screening especially when combined with ALA and PBG ...
Software Request
A 30 day trial copy of the latest version of the BIO-C software can be e-mailed on request. Please make your request for the software on our contacts page
We also provide on-site demonstrations of the system. This is by far the best option for understanding how the instrument functions. Let us know on the contacts page and we’ll be pleased to help.
The BIO-C system is developed to automate the measurement of CSF xanthochromia. It also enables the measurement of total urine porphyrin, faecal porphyrin, porphobilinogen PBG, and 5-Aminolevulinic acid ALA.
